Iklck Row--Carolyn LATHAM GRADES SCHOOL REPORT BACK IN 1930 (Feb. 14, 1930) Latham, Ill. -- Reports have been received here by Principal Joseph Armstrong of the Latham grade school of the first semest- er examinations which were held in January for the 7th and 8th grade pupils, who were tested in agriculture, spelling, history and reading. The final, of semester examination grade, was averag- ed in with the pupils' daily work and monthly grades, each count- ing half toward the final grade or standing. Of the 21 - 7th and 8th grade pupils who took the examination 14 were of the 8th and 7 of the 7th grade. All but one passed, and some few students made ex- ceptional grades, among them being Sarah Jane Pease, Ruth Pyles and Ruth Lee, of the 7th grade, and Ruth Reeves, Ferne Kiick, Helen Duncan, Ruth Little and John Lee of the 8th grade. ,Of the 21, 10 were on the honor roll with grades of 90 or over. In spelling 100 words were pro- nounced, and the following nam- ed pupils made 100 on the test.; Helen Duncan, Ferric Kiick, Ruth Little, John Lee, Ruth Lee, Sarah Jane Pease, Ruth Pyles and Ruth Reeves. QUEEN OF ROMANIA PASSED THRU MT. PULASKI Queen Marie of Romania, her son Prince Nicholas, and her dau- ghter who had bee in St. Louis, then came to Sprb:fiei4, Ill. for a two-hour stay.
