+ 7 5 @ P tO O OI These Times By Mike Lakin Colin West isn't at the Mt Pulaski Post Office. Colin has been moved to the Main Post Office in Lincoln. Carrie Pethy (page-5) is now the Mt. Pulaski Clerk, having been moved from Lincoln. Barb Maske has coached MPGS Speech and Drama Team and sponsored MPGS Student Council for the past 13-years. Barb's dedication to the students has been more than evident this year. I for one congratulate her on being at the forefront as an advocate for students, teachers, and administrators - as you have been able to read about this year. She has brought several matters to the attention of the community since April. Linda Blue is retiring as Unit Secretary for the school district. December 14 is her last day unless "they" tie her to her desk chair. In naval terms - she has been the district's "steady as She goes" for quite a few years. 616 N Chicago Street - Lincoln 217-732-3331 The tomato fence in the backyard caught my eye. The sun was just coming up and sunlight lit the dewdrops on it making it look like it was strung with Christmas lights. The show was over in a few short minutes. Mt Pulaski Police Report By Mike Lakin Officer Doug McCartney took a report of a prescription narcotic like medication that went missing from an unlocked car. Side affects include a potentially fatal dose unless swallowed whole, it can slow or stop your breathing, and there are about 20 other really bad side effects -just saying. Officer Doug McCarmey served an arrest warrant on a Mt. Pulaski resident. That knock on the door probably gave the resident's roommate a moment of panic - being the roommate is revoked and on parole - but he had no warrants. Officer Doug McCartney was called to an apartment on the square; several wrought iron chairs had been thrown in the street and broken. While the culprit remains at large, Officer McCartney did find one of the wit- nesses had an outstanding warrant. So it was offto jail for a hapless witness. Chief Lynn Freer conducted a traffic stop. The driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. When Chief Freer advised of this immediate problem, the driver said, "I must have missed another court date." Must have. Because it was off to the county jail. One has to wonder how many court dates one has to have before you start missing them. Surely there's a phone app for that. Letter From Home Dearest Son, I'm writing this slow because I know you can't read fast. We don't live where we did when you left home. Your dad read most accidents happen within 20 miles of your home, so we moved. I won't be able to send you the address because the last family that lived here took the house numbers when they moved so they wouldn't have to change their address. This place is really nice. It even has a washing machine. I'm not sure about it. I put a load of clothes in and pushed the lever. We haven't seen them since. Weather isn't bad here. Only rained twice last week, first time for three days and second time for four days. About that coat you wanted me to send; Uncle Bob said it would be too heavy to send in the mail with the buttons on, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets. Your brother locked his keys in the car yesterday. We were really worried because went off a bridge in apickup it took him two hours to get truck. Don was driving. He me and your father out. rolled down the window and Uncle Charlie fell into a swam to safety. Your other whiskey vat last week.
