Celebrated 90th Birthday C an't Carl Kopatz turned 90-years-old November 5. The evening before, he was treated to a steak and lobster dinner at the Chesa- peake House in Springfield by nephew and niece - James and Deb Stahl of Illiopolis. An early celebration was held October 9 at the Mt. Pulaski American Legion, catered by Hilltop Catering. Numerous friends and relatives attended including his son, The Reverend Doctor Perry Kopa~ of Glendale, Arizona. Allen Schaal circulated among the guests, taking many pictures of the event. BoUmica provided a beautiful floral arrangement for the organ at Zion Lutheran Church Sunday, November 6. Submitted By - Betty Kopatz By Mike Lakin Find The Mt. Pulaski Zoning Commis- sioners submitted zoning changes to the City Council. Loren Holmes, represent- ing the Zoning Commissioners, stated they had approved changing a business zoned property on German Avenue to residential. They also approved changing a residential zoned property to business at 616 E. Jasper. The Council approved the proposed zoning changes. Mayor Jim Fuhrer thanked the Commissioners for their work. Public Works Director Mike Patridge reported the EPA approved the paper- work to start drilling for the new city water well. Mike said the city is ahead of the timeline set by the EPA. The work at the Elkhart Road Lift Station is progressing. Electrical work by Bassett's Mechanicals has been com- pleted. City Treasurer Jim Sutton reported the city had received deposits of $32,691.07 between Oct. 26 and Nov. 8. Among the deposits was $3,344.65 in Motor Fuel Tax Funds. Due to the planned demolition of the "Red Door", the property sale was can- celed. The City Tax Levy will be voted at the December meeting. The Logan County Planning Com- mission proposal will be reviewed at the December meeting. A proposal by the Blue Star Company will be presented at the Nov. 22 meet- hag. The proposal is to sell discounted electricity "to Mt. Pulaski residents. The proposal will be voted on at the March 2012 Primary.
