On the Move Bassett's Mechanical will be moving to a new location on. Spring Street. John Wyss says the move will provide even more space for the growing local business. Bassett's is cur- rently located on the north side of the Square. Bassett's Mechanical purchased a part of the former Bill Duhs property. and have been updating the buildings. The frame building will be used for sheet metal fabrication. The large storage build- ing has recently had a new heated "Pex" floor installed. The floor will be heated with hot water, flowing through the "Pex" plastic pipes. John says there is over 4,500 linear feet of "Pex" piping in the floor. What is If you are like the rest of us non-plumbers, then there is a good chance that you don't know what a "Pex" pipe is. "Pex" piping is cross-linked polyeth- ylene pipe. After going through several processes, the material becomes durable for extreme temperatures (hot or cold). The process makes "Pex" an excellent piping suh~ce for hot and cold water systems, esl~'cially since "Pex" is flexible and well adapted for temperatures from below freezing all the way up to 200 Fahrenheit. In the Bassett projedt, there is foam board insulation on the bottom; followed the "Pex" grid. The "Pex" piping is snapped into the grid. After testing, a concrete floor is poured over the floor heating system. John says plans are to be moved to the Spring Street location at some time in 2011. Until then, you can find Bassett's at their current Jefferson Street address.
