We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserves us in peace, and multiplies and enriches and strengthens us, and we have vainly imagined in the deceitful- ness of our own hearts that all these blessing were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own." Is it possible, that if we think everything begins and ends with us, just us, as human beings, we are leaving something out of the equation? Are we truthful with ourselves if we think who we are, and what we have, came solely by our own effort and doing? Is there truth we have not learned or have forgotten? Can we fiflly understand this world or ourselves if we it, and deal with it, in only two dimen- sions, just information and statistics, black and white figures on a page or a screen? Is it possible that our Founding Fathers, using the Bible in the class- room, as a foundation for knowl- edge, and A. Lincoln referencing God in the understanding of human nature, were using wisdom? Maybe we should give this some atten- tion and thinkin'... M. Talt The first of Apl the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year.
