He really enjoys his garden. Over the years he has grown the "standard" Midwest garden, garnished if i you will with some unique flower, fruit, or vegetable. This year, except for his zombie pumpkins, he's produced produce and flowers anyone can recognize.., just a bit better than his last year's garden. I always enjoy seeing what his effort has produced. By the way, Lynn and I didn't do too badly with three tomato plants.., an abundance we were able to share. 'Though, I think towards the end of this season people were avoiding Lynn. Land of Lincoln Honor Hight Thanked for Their Service to Veterans By Mike L dn I had written a letter to thank Land of Lin- coln Honor Flight for providing this impor- tant opporttmity for veterans to visit Wash- ington DC. I mentioned how some older vet- erans had commented to me that this meant so much to them. John Durst sent me the foUowing.. . "Mike, Thank you for your kind words. Yes, wish we could share all the cards, letters, and emails we receive from family of Veterans who have passed after having taken their Honor Flight. Many tell us it was one of the highlights of their later life. We have had Veterans buried in their Honor Flight shirt, or with their trip photo album in the casket, etc. Some times their Honor Flight is that last trip they take in their life. And, so many Veterans tell us afterwards "I did not know anyone cared almut my ser- vice until I went on an Honor Flight." This is especially true as we start to fly more Viemam War era. We do it because it is the least we can do to say "thanks" for their service to our country, so thank you for spreading the word so we can continue to serve more deserving Veterans."
