Chicago St. - Lincoln 60 Wedding Anniversary Guy Clifford, Jr. & Betty Irvin of rural Mt. Pulaski celebrated their 60~ Wedding Anniversary Sunday, August 16, 2015. A Mass and Blessing was held at Resurrection Parish Cath- olic Church in IlliopoIis with Rev. Paul DeMorrow officiat- ing. (They waited for him to return from Canada!). A recep- tion for family and church family as witnesses was held in Visitation Hall following Mass. Mr. Irvin & and former Betty Colleen Welch were married August 13, 1955 at Visitation Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Illiopolis. Sister Phyl- lis Schenk, O.P. , provided the delicious ice-ring punch and helped with preparations for the reception, along with Sister Josetta Brown. The church choir provided beautiful music; Nancy Woolsey from Svendsen's Florist made lovely corsages; Tricia Mitchell Hildebrand's cake was perfect, served by Bet- ty's cousin, Mary Hawkins. Another beautiful celebration for various anniversaries and the Sacrament of Marriage will be held October 4 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Concep- tion, Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, with the Most Rev. Thomas John Paprocki officiating, reception to follow. The couple has four children: Guy Clifford III (Jean), Murphy, NC; Pamela Ann Irvin Lamoreaux (Michael), Fair- field Glade, Linda Susan Irvin Beaton (Alex), St. Peter's, MO; and Joan Marie Irvin Horlacher (James), Jacksonville, FL; brother/sister, twins, Paul Young Irvin (Carol), Portland, OR & Carol Irvin Sellers (Ron), Corona, CA, who made their home with Guy & Betty for many years after the death of their parents. They have 16 grandchildren + 3 in heaven, 12 great- grandchildren. Both Guy & Betty are retired and have been otors 1136 W. They will have the distinction of becoming a centennial farm in 2019. Betty's parents were the former John Patrick & Dora Ellen (Cooper) Welch, Illiopolis. Maternal grandparents were Wil- liam Henry & Matilda "Tillie" May (Arz, Artz); an aunt, Violet Bernice Cooper Shull (Hiram) of rural Mt. Pulaski. Paternal grandparents were William Henry & Mary Alphonse "Pearl" (Gleeson) Welch of rural Illiopolis. Guy's parents were the former Guy Clifford Irvin, Sr. & Betty Theresa (Young) Irvin of Teaneck, NJ. Paternal grandparents were Clifford & Sophie (Curry) Irvin of Illiopolis and maternal grandparents, Waiter Herman "Poppy" & Josephine (Mann) Young of Oak Park. As a vignette, Guy was 2-years old and Betty, an older woman at the age of 4, when they first met and were allowed to go "up-town" to buy candy in Ross's Grocery, shadowed by some loving relatives.
