Cady Lowery, Jordan I;uczaj, and Chelsea to compete at the national level by advancing from the state level competition in April. As a result, the students spent time at the end of the year fundrais- ing and refining their events in preparatien for this highest level of competition. Cady and Jordan competed as a team in Chapter Showcase Manual and Chelsea competed as an individual in Nutrition and Wellness. This means that of the almost 6,000 student competi- tors present at the conference, up to 104 of them were compet- ing in C-fia  Showcase and 104 of thei  [/: ltion aKd Wellness. Despite the pressure of competition and getting lost in the labyrinth of conference rooms at the Opryland hotel, the students presented their proj- ects extremely well. Cady and Jordan earned a National Gold 4 ! o gl 0 I.t rating and were ranked 4th in the Central Region of the nation. Chelsea also earned a gold'and was ranked 1st in the Central Region, All three students did an amazing job and represented their chapter, school, and com- munity excellently. In addition to competition, Cady, the Illinois FCCLA State President, served as a voting delegate for a change in the national bylaws and in the elec- tion of the 2013-2014 National Executive Council. o- Mt.
