After having finished a Mexican lunch, I just felt compelled to break out in Spanish! Several of our group enjoyed the new Rio Grande Mexican Restau- rant in Lincoln Tuesday, July 20. Reservations had been made for l l:30a and I arrived early to check out the place and talk to the manager. It is beautifully furnished in Mexican decor, which features lively, vibrant colors. The tables, booths, chairs, and bar stools were all boldly appointed, and authentically made in Mexico. Mexican wall art is an added feature. Knowing very little about Mexican food, I opted for Chori PoUo, a very tasty chicken dish garnished with Mexican sausage (very mild). I was not dis- appointed. Several others from our group were in doubt when it came to ordering, but the helpful and pleasant walt staff provided help. One of the ladies ordered a dish sug- gested by the staff and she thoroughly enjoyed it. From all reports, each lady liked her meal. The menu is wide and varied and seems to meet anybody's choice. They had a neat "cantina" and one is able to select from a finely stocked bar if desired. Desserts, as well as many dinner combina- tions, are on the menu. The salsa they served at our table was a bit "hot" for my tastes, but others "rel- ished" it {pun intended!). The atmosphere pro- motes a happy feeling among its guests. For something a little differ- ent, it met everybody's expectations for something new and exciting for the taste buds. Courteous and friendly, the entire staff made us feel most welcome. Needless to say, it's on our "return" list for future visits. Submitted by Pat Straumann In 1924, Pope Urban VIII threatened to excommunicate snuff users.
