You can depend on our SHAWN KNAUER, son of Kevin and Monica Knauer of Mt. Pulaski, and a member of Boy Scout Troop 122, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.  Court o" Honor was held in rec- ognition of Shawn's achievement Saturday January 5, 2013"at Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski. Shawn completed his Eagle Scout Projea in September 2012: His project was to pour concrete - to install a handicap parking space at the Mt) Pulaski Fire Dept. His project was funded and supported by the Mt. Pulaski Fire Dept. and accomplished with assistance from Mick Cyrulik of Mt. Pulaski and  Shawn's fell6w scouts. Knauer is a 2013 graduate of Mt. Pulaski High School where he graduated with honors and had been a 4 year member of the golf and baseball teams and a two year member of the basketball team. He was also a 4 year member of the concert, marching and pep bands and the Spirit Squad. Knauer is a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and has served as an altar server. He was also a member of the youth group that traveled to Memphis, TN as part of the Catholic Heart Work Camp. Shawn started scouting in Cub Scouts in 2001 and moved up through the ran]cs becoming a member of Boy Scout Troop 122 under leader Greg Maus in March 2006. He was electedto the Order of the Arrow, a scout- ing honor society, by his peers. Some highlights of Shawn's scouting career were hiking the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico and going to Cache Lake Scout Camp in the Canadian boundary waters. He will attend Illinois State University this faU majoring in Construc- tion Management. NEWS&NOTES PAINTING, WOODWORKING, PHO- TOGRAPHY, & METALWORKING are the crafts to be featured in the Fall Festival Craft Show. Mt. Pulaski Courthouse volun- teers want to do something differ- ent in the hopes that more people will visit the Courthouse. Everyone is welcome to submit craft items that they themselves have made. Entry forms and Guidelines are at the Mt. Pulaski website, at the library, the shops on the square and at the Courthouse. The forms are available in Lincoln and Elkhart, as well. The entry forms need to be sent in by August 15, to give the com- mittee time to plan how items will be displayed. One entry form must be filled out for each piece that is submitted. 4 Part of the fun will be asking each person who visits the show to vote for their one favorite craft item. The Chaxlcs and Lorea Holmes families are in charge of the tables and beverages. Please bring a dish to pass and tables service for yourself. Chicken, ice cream, lemonade and tea will be provided. The officers for 2013 are President Mike Thompson, Vice-President Greg Holmes and Secretary/Treasurer Vicky Vogt.
