THURSDAY, JUNE 17, 1971 Chestnut Chatter Rebecca Drake Mr. and Mrs. Noah Stauffer, Jr., Mrs. Eileen Voile, and Mr. and Mrs. Walker West, Clinton, attended the graduation of Allen Stauffer June 5th from Southern Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri. Allen grad- uated with a degree in Sociology with comprehensive degree in 'Economics. Happy Birthday to Jody Maus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Maus. He was 12 years old on June 16th. Mrs. Edward Dierker, Rusty, Candy, and Tim, Argenta, II1., attended church Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Dierker. Wedding Bells will be ringing Saturday, June 19th for Miss Sue Khile and David Kiliman at the Zion Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Wedding Bells will also be ringing Tuesday evening, June 22rid for Janet Kaesebier, Mr. Pulaski, and Curtis Maus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Maus. Vacation Bible School Closing Service at the Zion Lutheran Church will be held Friday, June 18th at 7:30 p.m. Forty-one children were enrolled this year. Vacation Bible School at the Methodist Church was held this week, June 14th thru 18th from 1:00 . 3:00 p.m. Mrs. Lois Byrnes was supervising teacher. No Closing Service is scheduled. A Farewell Potluck Supper was held Sunday evening, June 13th, with 70 attending, at 6:O0 to honor Rev. and Mrs. Robert Beasley and family, who are leaving the Chestnut and Beason congregations 1o go to Marshall, 111. where Rev. Beasley will super- vise 12 churches. The new minis- ter, Rev. Kim Yon Soon will preach his first Sunday here June 20th. He will be residing in 1/LT. WADE H. SCHOTT, III, USMC has his Naval Aviator Wings pinned on by his wife, Marcelline, during ceremonies held at NAS Chase Field, Bee- Beason. The Beasley's were pre- sented a lovely set of dishes as an appreciation gift from their con- gregation. Mrs. Flossie Voile, Lay Dele- gate, at the Chestnut Methodist Church, attended Conference at Wesleyan University, Blooming- ton, Ill. and presented her re- port to the congregation Sunday, June 13th. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoffek, Angola, and Nicole. Peru, Ill.. visited with her parents this week, Mr. and Mrs. Harold King. Happy Anniversary to Walt and Debbie Maus, who are cele- brating their 3rd anniversary June 16th. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Drake, Mrs. Louise West. Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Voile, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Veach, Bloomington. Ill. Re- grets were received from Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lillich. Miss Jane Parks, 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Parks, will be featured singer with Marvin Lee and his band at Middletown Homecoming, Sat- urday night, June 19th at 7:30 p.m. She will also be singing at Philo, Ill. with Marvin Lee's band June 27th. Miss Deborah Leimbach, daughterof Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Leimbach, has been home for a short vacation before returning to Southern Ill. University for summer school, June 2 I st. Sun- day, June 13th, Deborah was a bridesmaid in her roomate's wedding, Miss Christie Saddler. Benton, Ill., who married John Burlinson, also of Benton. The wedding party wore the latest in wedding atire with dresses fa- shioned of blue and white ging- ham-checked fabric trimmed in large rickracR. The bridesmaids then wore simple matchir,g bows in their hair and carried white wicker baskets filled withflowers.
