Its presence was discovered when it chewed through the ceiling. Being the hole was large; it was thought the invader in the attic was larger than a mouse. Scampering feet could be heard that added the suggestion it could be a rat. Regardless, its eviction was sealed. Pastor Kevin Treptow (Chestnut - Latham - Mt. "According to the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, repair costs for a bumper hit at only 6-MPH can cost way over $1,000 for an average automobile. Now, from my memory, a 6-MPH bump in a '54 Hudson wouldn't evefi had been felt. Wouldn't even have dinged that massive chrome edifice. If you drive in from Cornland for the monthly Fire District Meeting you'll drive a bit further. If you drive to Mt. Pulaski from Chestnut you'll turn-around. By - Pat Straumann Our group took advantage of a gorgeous day and zeroed in on Mackinaw's. Tea Room at the Depot for our May 18 luncheon meet- ing. Arriving early, we had a chance to shop for a short time before our reservations for ll:30a had to be honored. There is a flower shop with beautiful flowers available. Also. an outdoors shop contained'many decorative yard items, etc. They evidently catered to weddings as well A lovely gift shop called for our attention immediately after dining. The food was delicious and the sweet concoctions tempted all that went. (According to Patsy G., the cheesecake was to die for!) Tearoom fare was assorted and pleasing to all cravings. Specialties included salads and soups. Bean soup with potatoeswas another house treat, which went over well. A wonderful appetizer preceded each meal chosen. A chilled, peach soup with a dollop of whipped cream was a welcome treat not previ- ously sampled by most. A very brief meeting followed the meal. We dismissed shortly there- after to enjoy some more shopping (can we EVER get enough?) and we headed home from a delightful day's outing. Come join us. Guests are always welcome.
