5 Larry D. Medaris, 73, of Decatur formerly of Mt. Pulaski died at 10:15 pm D  Thursday May 17, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Larry was born on January 21, 1939 in Decatur to Dale and Virginia Totten Medaris. " He married Nancy Bolsen on Atgust 7, 1960 in Bement. She preceded him in death on July 23, 1970. He married Judith D. Leever on July 4, 1971 in Beason. She survives. Also surviving are seven chil- dren, Penny (Chuck) Fricke of Lincoln, Pam (Jim) Brown of Beason, Jan (Frank) Marsaglia of Thayer, Tim (Mary) South- erlan of Mt. Pulaski, Jack (Deb) Medaris of Blue Bell, PA, Jill (Brian) McElyea of Fleming Island, FL, Jennifer (Steve Cekander) Medaris of Mt. Pulaski, one sister Ellen (Ralph) Zoch of Bement, Grandchildren and Great- Grandchildren - Amanda In Mem0ry-- Nichols Vernon A. Hassebrock, 89, of Mt. Pulaski, passed away May 11, 2012 at Villa East Retirement Home in Sherman. Vernon was the son of John W and Anna Maxheimer Has- sebrock. Vernon was born on November 30, 1922 in E1 Paso. Vernon married Mar- (Zach) Hubner of Quincy; Michelle (Chad) Maxheimer of Latham; Nathan (Heather) Fricke of Mt. Pulaski; Jeremy Buckles of Indiana; Cassan- dra (Alex Dahm) Buckles of Springfield; Jared (LeAnna) Brown of Petersburg; Blake Brown of St. Louis; Shelby Brown of Beason; Dalton Brown of Beason; Alex Mar- saglia of Lebanon; Casara Marsaglia of Thayer; -Abbie (Jim Mulkins) Southerlan of Springfield; Ashley Southerlan of Mt. Pulaski; Matt South- erlan of Mt. Pulaski; Tera McElyea of Fleming, Florida; Brienna McElyea of Fleming, Florida; Ross and Hannah EUiott of Decatur; Ben and Jack Fricke of Mt. Pulaski; and Briar, Kep, and Ashton Maxheimer of Latham. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Janet. Larry was an agent and Country Financial represen- tative for many years. Larry had been a multi-line agent with Country Financial in Mt. Pulaski for 26 years and was a member of the Macon/Piatt/ DeWitt/Logan Agency of Country Financial. As a cur- celia Clancy on December 22, 1951 in Springfield. She pre- ceded him in death on Janu- ary 15, 2005. Vernon was in the United States Army from December 1, 1942 to Novem- ber 14, 1945; he was awarded 2 Bronze Stars for service in WWII. Vernon was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mt Pulaski. Vernon was a carpenter with his brothers Loren and Ray Hassebrock. They built many homes in Mt. Pulaski, Lincoln, and Springfield. Vernon is survived by his brothers: John Hassebrock of Lincoln; Glen (Muriel) Hasse- brock of Decatur; sisters: Lois (Wilbur) Ruwe of Beason; rent member, and past Presi- dent, of the NAIFA-Decatur Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, he was active in the profession for 39 years. He received his Fellow of Life Underwriting Training Council (LUTCF) from The American College in 2002, and was an Investment Solutions Representative with County Trust Bank in Bloomington, IL. Larry earned his Financial Services Specialist (FSS) Des- ignation in May 2008. He was a'member of the Mt.-Pulaski Christian Church where he served as a de,icon for several years, being the Secretary of the Deacons Board as well as Chairman of the Deacons Board in 1990. He was also a member of the Gideon's. Funeral services were Tues- day May 22 at the Mt. Pulaski Christian Church. Mark Weber officiated. Burial was in Steenbergen Cemetery. Memorials: The Gideon's, the Bri's Endless Horizon Play- ground for Disabled in honor of his granddaughter Brienna, or The Mt. Pulaski Christian Church. Alma Stoli of Mt. Pulaski; Ethel Hein of San Jose, CA; and he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to parents and wife, Vernon was preceded in death by his brothers Harold, Loren, Melvin, Ray, and his sister Anna Roos. Services for Vernon were Tuesday May 15 at Fricke Cal- vert Schrader Funeral Home in Mt Pulaski. Rev. David Ramirez officiated. Burial was in Mt. Pulaski Cemetery with full military rites accorded by Mt. Pulaski American Legion Post #447. Nichols, 84, of Elkhart passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:10 am at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services for Mrs. Nichols were Thursday, May 10 at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln Rev. Dayle Badman officiated. Burial was in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Surviving Mrs. Nichols are her Children: Steve (Cindy) Nichols and Suzann (Mark) Maxheimer all of Elkhart; Grandchildren: Jessica Maxheimer, Garret Maxheimer and Whitney Nichols; Sisters: Bernice "Totie" Hoffert, Mary Ann Under- wood Bratcher, Nevie (Jim) Haseley all of Lincoln, and Ruth Steffens of Litchfield. Her son David A. "Sabwah" Nich- ols preceded her in death and broth- ers: Orville Liesman, Gerald Lies- man, and Wilbur Liesman. Betty Marie Nichols was born January 10, 1928 in rural Lincoln the daughter of Reynold Orville and Cora Baker Liesman. She married Glenn Arthur Nichols on September 14, 1954. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2010. Betty graduated from Hartsburg High School in 1946. Betty retired from the Illinois Secretary of State's office where she worked in the Title Department. She later worked at the Dollar Store in Lincoln. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln and the Wonderful Women & Wine Red Hat Society group.
