9 Fearless in Euroclydon i r lID L o Chestnut Resident Published Author Jacqueline Stauffer-McDou- gall is a Christian daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother of 5 beautiful grandchildren. She and her husband live in Chestnut. Jackie has a lifelong love of read- ing and writing, but her livelihood was earned first in insurance and then medical transcription. She and her first husband had 2 children. Sadly, that marriage ended in Octo- ber 1999. The divorce was finalized in 2001; it was to be the first of the Euroclydons she would experience. In addition to the divorce along with the ensuing single parent- hood, the first decade and a half of this millennium birthed several life storms. The first was the most dev- astating-the suicide of her greatly loved father due to bipolar disorder. This disease and other mental ill- nesses in several family members, stage-Ill colon cancer, and the loss of a job due to complications of the cancer treatment complete the list. Along with the sorrows have been inexpressible joys. Marriage to her gentle bear for 5 years, grand- children inherited with the mar- riage and 3 more born since then, and watching her children grow into successful adults are just some of the joys. It was the combination of sor- rows and joys that enabled her to be- a victor and overcomer through her relationship with Jesus. The words of II Corinthians 1:3-11 make it clear that suffering is to be used to help others. Fearless in Euroclydon is the testimony to this. Fearless in Euroclydon is her first book. The word Euroclydon makes one appearance in the Bible, and speaks of the violent storm Paul faced in Fearless in Euroclydon, is being released through Vox Dei Publishing on May 26. Mt. Several online dictionaries reference Euroclydon as "a stormy wind from the north or northeast which caused the ship in which Paul was traveling to be wrecked". Jacqueline's personal definition? The worst storm imaginable. What constitutes such a storm? In the last 15 years, Jacqueline has found herself in the midst of the following: Cancer Suicide of a close loved one Divorce * Mental Illness * Straggles with besetting sins Children away from the Lord How does one survive such a storm? In Fearless in Euroclydon, Jac- queline details her journey from trying to retain control to releasing it to God, and how she learned to stand fearless in the storms of life.
