In an effort to reduce the threat of hepatitis to blood re- cipients, a new testing facility has been installed at the Peoria Rgional Red Cross Blood Cen- ter. All blood used for patients in local area hospitals is pro- cessed and clinically tested at this laboratory. Since January, all blood col- lected here by the Red Cross has been tested for the presence of Australian Antigen, a factor known to contribute to trans- mittal of hepatitis. The new testing program accomplished by a cotmterelectrophoresis process, is under the supervision of Mrs. Mary Cambron, Chief Medical Technologist, Peoria Regional Red Cross Blood Center. The next Logan County Red Cross Blood Bank will be Friday, May 7th at the Lincoln Recrea- tion Center sponsored by Lin- coln Christian College.
