6.-TIMES-NEWS (Mt. Pulaski, Ill.) THURSDAY, APRIL 22, 1971 BIR CmLDREN ENJOY TRAIN TRIP The first, third and fourth grade school children of Birks school were treated to a special day of activities on Wednesday, April 7. This is the last year that Birks School will be operated be- cause of the consolidation in the Mt. Pulaski school system. The children enjoyed a train ride from Mt. Pulaski to Spring- field which was the first time for several of them. They went to McDonald's for lunch, played miniature golf, toured Lincoln's Home and visit- ed the Museum gift shop there. They went to the Dairy. Queen before returning home. Other children enjoying the trip were Larry Wilharn, Jr., Dallas Loveall, Tracey Shellham- mer, Linda Kraft and Gall Shanle. Chaperones for the day were mothers of the children, namely, Mrs. Robert Cowan, Mrs. Larry Wilham, Mrs. J. Dalen Shellham- mer, Mrs. Charles Loveall, Mrs. Bill Shanle and Mrs. Robert Lucas. Mi. Pulaski Daisies 4.H Club Met Wed. The Mt. Pulaski Daisies 4-H Club held their monthly meeting at Joan and Lynnea Oglesbys on April 14 at 7:00 p.m. Talks were given by Vicki Hum on "What Makes A Well Planned Meal", and Linda Mile- ham on "How to Care for Your Clothing." A demonstration was given by Dianne Schaffenacker on "Decoupage". Plans for "Share The Fun" to be held in Lincoln on April 23 were discussed. Auto Accident At Cornland Narrowly escaping injury Fri- day afternoon were Mrs. Marilyn Cherry, Cornland, and her three children. Mrs. Cherry, driving the car owned by Miss Bryson, also of Cornland, turned off Route 54 at Cornland, skidded into a post at the railroad crossing, half overturning into a culvert. The driver of a semi-trailer truck, following Mrs. Cherry on the highway, failed to reduce his speed after Mrs. Cherry turned on her turn signal light, thus causing her to make too fast a turn and skidding on the rocks and shale. Mrs. Maud Bozart h Died Mon. March 29 Mrs. Maud Bozarth of Los Angeles, California, formerly of Mt. Pulaski, passed away on March 29, 1971. If she had lived until April 22, she would have been 102 years old. She is survived by one daugh- ter, Dorothy Danner, also of Los Angeles.
