13 t O i..a 4 Long Time Corner Station Closes By Mike Lakin Rich & MarilynEdwards has operated the family business - Curtis Oil Company - since 1975, but at l:30pm Friday April 18 they closed the doors for good. For 39-years, Rich and several employees over the years topped off tanks and spruced up windows, and more. Yes - right up to 1:30 pm you could pull up to the front gas pumps of the station and Rich would come out, find out how much gas you wanted, and pumped the gas for you. Rich always said thank you and left them with a smile. No matter what, Rich's customers say the service and the friendship won't be replaced. One long time customer on gearing the news said, "He's alwayz treated us right, and looked after us. We're going to miss him." Rich kept a hometown approach in his busi- ness. Was known for his community involve- ment and personal touch with customers right up to the end. Rich's Curtis Oil Company was the last locally owned gas station. It started around 1925 - 1926 as a Sinclair Station (see preced- ing photos). It then became a Marathon Sta: tion; finishing as an FS Fast Stop Station. Pat Strauman has summed it up for friends and customers... A thank you and goodbye... Thanks, Rich and Marilyn Edwards, for the excellent service you have offered Mt. Pulas- ki's residents over the past several years. Yours has always been a business highly re- garded, well maintained, with courteous .staff and a warm and friendly nature for all who used your services. As a personal and longtime friend, I, and others, will miss your smiling faces very much from your familiar spot on the square. God grant you much success in the future. Pat Straumann P.S polish up those golf clubs! Curtis Oil Company would like to thank our customers for 39 years of business. Effective April 18 at 1:30 pm we closed the doors for good.
