Girls State provides an oppor- tunity for attendees to become better-informed citizens and to participate in leadership roles within the democratic process of f government when they take their place in society. a, The week at Girls State is dedi- cated to teaching local and state government practices, proper voting procedure, political party ., structures, and campaigning and OI proper flag etiquette. The pro- o gram challenges attendees with o the best possible speakers, ses- sions, and many hands on train- ing. Mt. Pulaski American Legion Auxiliary Unit #447 has selected - for attendance at Illini Girls State... CADY LOWERY is the daughter of Doug and Teena Lowery. She is involved in Wyse, Scho- lasfics Bowl,-Stdent Council, Prom Committee, Yearbook Staff, FCCLA, National Honor Society, Volleyball, and Spanish Club. Cady is a lifeguard at the Mount Pulaski Township Park District pool. Cady plans tattend college; "having an interest in journalism and broadcasting. EMMA STEWART s the daughter of John and Deidn Stewart. She is involved h Spanish Club - Vice President fir three years, Spirit Squad - three years, Prom Committee, and Yearbook Staff. Deidra has played volleyball for three years and has been a cheerleader' for two. She has coached volleyball and umpired in the softball program. Currently Deidra works at Downing, Przykopanski, Cle- ments,& May Insurance. She also volunteers at the Lake Fork Center. Deidra plans to attend college, majoring n nursing and working in NICU.
