It ws a funny sometimes poignant display of young people trying to find their way and their passion, When the Ethel Lambert Com- munity Center, which is the one stable place for them to gather, is threatened by a money-hungry city council the young people find theh voice. They rally around a goal despite their differences ranging from preppy to thug-like behavior to homelessness. Junior Maddi Haley's per- formance as Coral (the center's adminstradve assistant) is the glue that eventually binds the group to work together to save the center. Dressed in pink with an outra- geous pink hairdo, Miss Haley was hilarious, keeping the audi- ence laughing with moods rang- ing from over-the-top enthusiasm to pessimism in that tiny voice that one could not help but love. It is always a pleasure to watch a group of young people put their heart and soul into a per- formance. The Drama Club (director Donna Koehler, assis- tant tkarb Maske) and their advi- sors, stage crew, Mr. Burgard's shop classes, et al, are to be com- mended for providing the people of Mt Pulaski and the surround- ing communities with first class entertainment -showing that teenagers will be enthusiistic about a cause when they know they matter. In Mrs. Koehleffs words, "The idea of believing in yourself and going after your dreams is univer- sal'!.
