THE MOUNT PULASKI TIMES- NEWS, MOUNT PULASKL ILLINOIS HOBLI PULASKI MEMORIAL SHRINE ON FRONT OF STATE BOOKLET The Illinois State Historical Society pays tribute to the old courthouse at Mount Pulaski by publishing its picture on the front cover of the spring issue of the Journal, the organiza- tion's quarterly magazine. in its "News and Comment" sec- tion the publication carries the following paragraph under the heading "Courthouse on the Old Eighth Circuit": "The beautiful old building on the front cover of this issue of the Journal is the Mount Pulaski courthouse where Abraham Lin- coln and his associates of the Eighth Judicial Circuit attended court a hundred years ago. It was used as a courthouse from 1848 to 1853 when Mount Pu- laski was the county seat of Log- an county. Then it was a school- house until 1878, when it became the city hall and jail. Later it was a postoffiee and then the headquarters of various city officials. In 1936 the building was turn- ed over to the state, and the work of restoring the simple beauty it possessed a century a- go was begun. The Logan County Historical Society has undertak- en the task of furnishing the old courthouse as it was in Lin- coln's time. The building is open daily to visitors." EXPRESSION OF THANKS During the time I was a patient in St. Clara's hospital, Lincoln, and since coming home with my baby son, Richard Joseph, I received a large num- ber of cards, letters and gifts from good friends and relatives. I want to express my sincere thanks. Mrs. Joseph Schroth. .--Sunday Matinee, April 8, at 2 o'clock at the Mount Pulaski Theatre, the "West point Story," with lames Cagney, Virginia Mayo.
