Washington Mr. Pulaski Tues-Fri 10-4 & Sat 9-1 792 5117 This year, Mount Pulaski FCCLA members were looking for a new way to serve the Mount Pulaski commurdty. These students formed a committee and brainstormed some ideas; Finally, they decided that since Valentine's Day was during FCCLA Week, they should do something for the holiday. After some dis- cussion, the students arrived at the deci- sion that they should celebrate Valentine's Day with the residents at Vonderlieth Living Center. A group of about fifteen students got together several different times to plan and carryout the project. They created handmade cards for each of the residents as well as making cookies for them. The cookies proved to be a bit of a challenge, as they needed to be sugar-free so that all the residents could enjoy them. After looking through a variety of reci- pes, the group found a sugar-free sugar cookie recipe that actually tasted quite good. After meetiug once to make the cards and again to make and decorate the cook- ies, the group got together Saturday, Feb- ruary 9 to deliver the cookies to the resi- dents. Nine of the students as well as Mr. Waterkotte and Kelly Barley were able to meet at the center and deliver the cook- ies to each of the residents individually. The students spent two hours with the rdsidents and both they and the residents enjoyed cookies and time together. The Mount Pulaski FCCLA would like to thank Vonderlieth Living Center for allowing them to take the day to visit with thelxsidents. In addition, Mr. Water- kotte would like to thank the students and Kelly Bailey for taking the time from their schedules and weekend to wish a Happy Valentine's Day to so many people.
