OPEN ALL YEAR (4-15) New Soybean Varieq/ Receives Certification Certification of Seedmakers new soybean variety l-E has been granted by the Illinois Crop Improvement Association fol- lowing approval for certification by the National Variety Review Board. This new soybean variety is described as having exceptional yield capability, excellent di- sease resistance and standability, high protein and oil content, with maturity the same day as Wayne. Now available in limited quan- tities from member - dealers. Seedmakers I-E was developed by Seedmaker breeder Louis Bellatti of Mt. Pulaski after 20 years of research. A "breeder in overalls", Bellatti is well known to other Central States farmers for his annually top yielding soy- beans. Describing the new variety's characteristics, Bellatti says, "Seedmakers 1-E produces strong, vigorou plants as much as six inches taller than Wayne and most other varieties. Be- cause it yields more beans per plant, we recommend planting only 35 pounds of I-E per acre as compared to the traditional nearly 60 pounds per acre. The seed is medium size, shiny golden in color, with clear hilum." Seedmakers is an association formed last year by 11 seed companies and two professional breeders for the purpose of de- veloping, testing and marketing new and improved farm seeds. FOR RENT !
