An August 14th wedding in Vienna Christian Church is being planned by Diane Martin and Don Rogers, whose engagement is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John O. Martin of 523 West Jefferson, Mt. Pulaski, Illi- nois. The ceremony will be per- formed by Rev. Ray Gipson, of Sedalia, Me., formerly of Mr. Pulaski. Rogers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George M. Rogers of Chicago and the grandson of John Billingsley of Buncombe, Illinois. Miss Martin graduated from Mt. Pulaski High School and at- tended Lincoln Christian College at Lincoln, Illinois, where she studied Christian Education. She is presently employed by the State of Illinois at Lincoln State School. Mr. Rogers graduated from William J. Began High School, completed a three year Pre-Medical program at Loyola University in Chicago and grad- uated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago. He is a partner in the Rogers- Whitnel funeral homes at Vienna and Goreville and is Coroner of Johnson County. Without friends our world would be as a garden without flowers. CITY TREE PLANTING PROJECT The City Council proposes a spring planting program in cooperation properly owners. The trees will be furnished free and are expected to be good quality. Planting and spacing will be under the supervision of the City and maximum allolment will be one tree. per lot or three, trees per COmer lot. In some cases the City may not allow the wishes of adjoiaing property owners because of interference With .public services. Applications are to be made at. the City Clerk's office and will be recesved only between March 18 and March 27. Proposed varieties are Honey Locust, Nle Ash, Summit Ash, Sweet Gum, and Radiant Crab ..... Details .of the Varieties will be explained at the Clerk's office. The trees will cost the City quite a bit of money and it is our hope that property owners will treat them carefully and with adequate Protection from dogs and other hazards. The City Council Surprise Shower Honors Carol Ruwe Miss Joan Sieman of Chicago, and Miss Leslie Muir of Claren- don Hills, 111. had a surprise per- sonal shower over the weekend for Miss Carol Ruwe of Beason at the Muir residence in Claren- don Hills, where Carol is staying while she is. completing her prac- tice teaching of EMH students in the suburb of Stickney, I11. Twelve of Carol's sorority sis- ters from NIU of DeKalb; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Ruwe of Decatur; her sister, Cathy; and her mother, Mrs. Wilbur Ruwe of Beason attended the shower and indeed surprised the bride- to-be. Carol is the fiancee of Stephen Goebel of Lincoln and the wed- ding date has been set tor Satu day evening the 26th of June, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Illinois.
