I could not believe what I was seeing, The next day, my daugh- ter-in-law, Pam Hpp, saw some in Springfield. Fred Lipp Mount Pulaski High School Senior of the Month Whitney Nichols Whitney is the daughter of Steve and Cindy Nichols of Elkhart. She was selected for this honor based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, ser- vice, and character. Whitney is very active at school. She has played Volley- ball for 4 years; she was a varsity starter all 4 years and has won 2 state runners up trophies. She was also the captain her senior year. She played basketball for 3 years and she was a varsity start all 3 years. She was also on the team that won the state runner up trophy. Whitney also actively participates in FFA. She has been a member for 4 years and spent the last 2 years as an officer. She was treasurer her junior year and is currently a parliamentarian. She is involved Senior of the Month Sponsored by Johnson's Food Center Johnson True Value Hardware in various judging teams, speech, etc. Whitney has also been a member of the spirit squad for 4 years. Outside of school Whitney is a member for the 4 H club. She has been a member for 10 years. She also competes at various shows showing her Yorkshire hogs during the summer. Whitney will be attending Illinois Central College, majoring in computer arts and graphic design. She also plans on play volleyball for the ICC Cougars. Monthly award winners receive a $50 award paid to the college they plan to attend and compete for the Senior-of-the-Year honor in May.
