Pulaski A citywide celebration will be held during the first weekend of July 2011 to recognize those 175 years of our history-and heri- tage. While events will take place throughout the year includ- ing Casimir Pulaski's birthday and Memorial Day to honor our son's and daughter's who have and are now giving their lives to protect our freedom, our largest celebration will be held July 1st through July 4th, 2011. It is then that we hope all those who have a connection to our fine community will return and help us celebrate. Alumni, friends and their families will be provided an opportunity to reunite and share the many memories they have of the commu- nity from whence they came. The 175th committee is now forming and will meet the 1st and 3rd Saturday's of each month at the Mt. Pulaski VFW Hall at 9Am. Tom Martin - bluestem@frontiernet.net Darrell Knauer sworn in as Alderman Mayor Jim Fuhrer tapped Darrell Knauer as his choice for alderman. The Council agreed and voted to seat Darrell as Jim's replacement. City Attorney Tom Van Hook administered the oath of office. Until a few years ago, the oath of office for local elected officials included a statement affirming the official's opposition to Communism. That affirmation was dropped about a decade after the collapse of the old Soviet Union. Former Mayor Bill Glaze made the change. He said that it just didn't seem to be necessary any longer.
