Mt Pulaski's all-state shortstop and right-handed pitcher Michael Lowery signed his National Letter of Intent with Illinois Central College Illinois Central College Head Coach Brett Kelley and Recruit- ing Coordinator Ben Diggle were very particular as they sorted through the members of the Class of 2015. "We've established that we're going to win with a certain type of player," Kelley said. 'Tknd it's not necessarily all about talent. "It's about finding talented players who have a supreme competitive drive and who are willing to find their role within the framework of our team con- cept." Kelley and Diggle are con- fident they've done just that with their 2015 recruiting class, which includes Michael Lowery, Mount Pulaski High School. On the pitching side, Kelley has high expectations Lowery. "We want young men on the mound who aren't afraid to compete and who pound the zone." Lowery will also be counted on for offensive prowess as well. As a junior, Lowery hit .507 with 11 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run and 26 RBIs. On the mound, he posted an 8-1 record with a 1.18 ERA, 92 strikeouts WE'RE HERE TO HELP! and 12 walks. He eamed all- state honors from the Illinois High School Baseball Coach's Association and all-area honors from the Decatur Herald & Review and the Springfield State Journal-Register. Cur- rently, Prep Baseball Report ranks Lowery as the No. 211 player in the state of Illinois. 'A friend of the program that coaches in Mt. Pulaski's con- ference called us after Mike beat his team and said we had better take a look," Kelley said. "Unfortunately, due to some Third Wednesday Mt. Pulaski Township Board meetings are held on the third (3rd) Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM. The meetings are at the Township office, 404 S Spring St., Mt. Pulaski.
