Had an inquiry about AP classes (Advanced Placement) at the high school. Checking with the high school, I was told these classes prepare students to t.est out of some early col- lege-level work. AP instruc- tors take special training to prepare to teach those classes and the .high school has not explored adding AP classes. Wally Kautz said the final total for December visits at the Courthouse was ten. As of Jan- uary 26 th, January has had two visitors, from Chicago. They commented on how they liked the tour presentation. Tammy Holmes stopped in the office. She was picking up Brittany's graduation photo. I commented that the years sure had sped by; I could remember when she was just a little tyke. Tammy said she still remem- bers going to the library with a couple overdue books right after Brittany was born. Lynn said... OK. I've heard all the excuses. What's yours? Tammy replied she was in labor and couldn't get the books back. Lynn said, that was the best reason she'd heard.., no fine. Mandates cost money, and local governments end up paying. The federal govern- ment mandated a new emer- gency radio band. To meet the new mandate, the local fire dis- trict has to replace its radios. The fire district also has to replace all 60 pagers carried by volunteers. Cost? $24,000 - $25,000 for the pagers. We save Wall Street that caused a disastrous economic down- turn, but can't find the funds to pay for this mandate. If outsourcing jobs to places like India is such a good idea, why not outsource congress? We could still get nothing. And at a cheaper cost. - Mike Don't sell your mule to buy a plow.
