I am writing this letter about some concerns I have about our local police department. A gun safe was ............... recently purchased that had to be large enough for gun and evidence storage ............ The cost could be as high as $1,500. How many guns are going to be stored? ade Do we have a Swat team in town now? As for evi- dence, there is an evidence ROOM inside the police build- ing. I am sure it is secure. Maybe our council needs to tour the police department building and see just what they already have before spending more money. If they needed a generator, couldn't the smaller one have been purchased and the dif- ference in price been used to pay for the gun safe? A new squad car was also recently bought. WHY? IL State Police are using cars with over 100,000 miles on them-and their cars are used daily. At least one of our squad cars is inside the garage at the police station and a lot of times both are. When war the last time there were two officers on duty at the same time in this town? When a new squad is pur- chased, the price ! of the car (which is enough) is just part of the expense. Then there is the cost of new lights, a new cage, and new radios or the trans- fer of the old radio, which isn't cheap. Is all of this justi- fied? I don't think so. I also have a problem with parking in this town. If there is an ongoing problem on North Lafayette, are tickets being written for the car parked on the wrong side of the street? And, what about the north side of the square? Illinois State Rules 0fthe Road state you can't park within 30 feet of a stop sign. The stop sign at Lafayette and Jefferson also has solid yellow markings and a big x in it. Yet vehicles consistently park right in front of the sign! They also park in the marked crosswalk making it impossi- ble to see at this intersection. Maybe all ofthig has some- thing to do with the accidents that have happened at this intersection. A Concerned Tax Payer Have power when the power goes out with our Guardian Standby Generators When the power goes out.., and it will... You can depend on our Guardian Standby Generators for automatic back-ulb power Fully Automatic ,(24/7 Protection Permanently Installed f Better Than Portables Now Installing Geothermal Heating & Cooling Geothermal heating & cooling uses the relatively con- stant temperature of the earth to heat & cool homes and businesses with 40% to 70% less energy. Geothermal heat pumps use electricity to simply move heat from the earth into buildings. A geothermal heat pump can move up to 4 units of heat for every unit of electricity needed to power the system, resulting in an equivalence of over 400% efficiency. Good News! The government revised Federal Tax Credits for homeowners who install geothermal heat pumps. The tax credit is up to 30% of the total cost of installation for home owners. Gen00Pal Ray Inman, Scott Inman, Nick Lowery, and Dennis Blaum wrestled the door into place after this photo was taken. Your editor had left for a place with a door; it was in the low 30s. By the way. The door works. Good job Scott.
