Three old friends went to lunch just to forget their woes. When they saw a neighbor and her daughter at a near-by table they all wished Happy Holidays. When the ladies told their waiter they wanted separate checks, the waiter told them - with a big smile - that a gentle- man had paid their bill. The ladies were very sur- prised and shed a few tears and gave hugs in thanks. It was a very nice "Merry Christmas". Thank You Bill Maske... (Anonymous Contributor) In Memory-- Robert Heath, 88, died at 12:12 p.m. on January 2, 2015, at Chris- tian Village Nursing Home in Lin- coln. Robert was born July 9, 1926, in Lincoln, the son of Harley and Midge Latham Heath. He was united in marriage to Gayle Han- dlin on Dec. 20, 1975, in Lincoln. She survives him in Middletown. Also surviving Robert are his children - Jeff (Brandy) Heath of InMemory-- Eleanor B. Laughery, 98, died Dec. 9, 2014, at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, Calif., after a brief illness. She was born April 28, 1916, the daughter of Oswald and Theresa Greening Brooker. She married Eugene G. Laughery on Dec. 24, 1936. Their daughter Carole Liz- beth was born in 1948 and died Dec. 28,2005. "Bea," as she was known, grad- uated Mr. Pulaski High School - Class of 1933 - as did her hus- band in the Class of 1930. After living in Larchmont, N.Y., where Middletown, Roberta (Leo) Logan of Lincoln, Ronnie Heath of Lin- coln, and Bobbie Heath of Spring- field; stepchildren - Jennifer (Geoff) Schahl and Bobbie Hickey both of Lincoln; sister - Florence Moore of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister-in-law - Florence "Sis" Heath; 11 grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. His parents; daughter, Becky Heath; brothers, Cotton and Fred- dy Heath; and granddaughter, Au- tumn Lynn Heath, preceded him in death. Robert enjoyed watching the " Cardinals baseball team play and loved to fish. He was a member of the VFW Post #1756. He was the owner and operator of Lincoln Garbage Disposal for 20 years and worked as the custodian at Mt Pulaski High School until he re- tired in 1995. A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 9 at Fricke-Calvert- Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski. Mark Weber officiated. Burial was in Camp Butler Cem- etery with full military rites ac- corded. Memorials: Mt. Pulaski s- tian Church. Gene served 12 years as the Di- rector of Westchester Association of Retarded Citizens, they retired to Carlsbad, Calif., in 1981. Car- ole lived nearby and enjoyed life there until Gene's death in 1995. Bea made many friends and en- joyed traveling, Bible study at h.er church, Garden Club activities, playing bridge and many adventur- ous pursuits. "Not tethered by age" she took a biplane ride on her 95th birthday and also rode in a hot air balloon. She is survived by her sister, Betty Hickey; brother, Kenneth Brooker; her devoted caregiver, Dominga Madrigal; nephew, Kent Brooker; and nieces, Julie Hickey and Kathy Carter. Her sister, Helen Brooker Otto, and her parents preceded her in death. A memorial service was held Sunday, Dec. 21, at Bethlehem Lu- theran Church in Encinitas. Pastor Laura Ziehl officiated. Cremation rites were accorded. Internment will be at a later date at Mt. Pulaski Cemetery. Pulaski is in charge of local arrangements. in Memory Myrtle Yarner, 91, passed away at 10:15 A.M. on January 6, 2015 at Abraham Lincoln Memo- rial Hospital.
