NATE JOHNSTON, formerly of Chestnut, received the rank of 3rd Class Petty Officer during a frocking ceremony on December 8,2011 while on deployment aboard the guided- mis- sile destroyer USS Halsey (DDG97). The Halsey is currently on a Western Pacific deployment. Nate is the son of Scott & Jamie Johnston of Chestnut and husband to Michael (Ely) Johnston is stationed out of San Diego, Ca. Nate is a 2009 graduate of Mt. Pulaski High School.
